STAS

STAS” is short for stick around study.

I wanted to rediscover and interpret two locally known techniques.

Compressed bent wood and stringmaking.

Inspiration

In my research on bent wood elements, I came across snowshoes, that were invented 4000 BC in Central Asia. Snowshoes made it possible for indigenous people to expand their territory.

This fascinating invention inspired me to work with the combination of strings and bent wood.

The little table with a basket for small items, the lamp with a tassel that charges light via flourocent yarn and shines in the dark, and the Chief chair were all exhibited with Danish Design Makers at IMM in Cologne
